Michael Strahan‘s iconic tooth gap is no longer! The TV personality took to social media to reveal that he underwent a cosmetic procedure that resulted in his gap being closed and shared the results as well as a bit of the process in a new clip!

The Good Morning America host has a new smile and he was excited to show his fans, although the reactions were definitely mixed.

The professionals at Smile Design Manhattan have closed the gap Michael used to have between his upper front teeth.

The star even called this a ‘moment 50 years in the making,’ suggesting that he’s been waiting all his life to get rid of this distinctive feature.

But sure enough, he was well aware that people online, and even people in his life, would tell him not to do it, which is why he did not post about it or tell anyone beforehand.

‘I’ve got to do what I want to do for myself now,’ he explained.

After it was all done, Michael felt like he had a new reason to smile and he did just that, declaring that ‘I love it’ and even did a happy dance on camera to express his excitement!

At the same time, there are users who don’t believe the procedure was really done since the TV personality announced it so close to April Fool’s Day!

After all, just last week he tweeted: ‘I rock my gap with pride! It’s who I am!’ and now he suddenly changed his mind?

Back in 2012, he also told Elle magazine during an interview that when his football career was only just taking off, ‘I was really close to closing it up. I was at a dentist having him do mock-ups. I thought about it, man. There is so much pressure to just be perfect. You can fix everything. For me, I made the effort to say ‘This is who I am.’ I am not perfect. I do not want to try to be perfect. At this point, I do not think my kids would recognize me without it. They would be like, ‘Who is this stranger in the house? Call 911!”
